set of documents, 4 pcs., сongratulatory letters to Charles Edward Clark (1867–1942) on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of his scientific career from the All-Ukrainian Committee for Assistance to Scientists signed by the People's Commissar of Education; the Odessa Council of Trade Unions, and the workers and engineers of the Odessa Waterworks, Latvia, Ukraine, 1922, (tears along the edges), Charles Edward Clark (Чарльз Джонович Кларк, 1867–1942) was a Latvian shipbuilding engineer and a lecturer at the Riga Polytechnic Institute. Due to the outbreak of hostilities in 1914–1915, Charles Clark, along with the Polytechnic Institute, was evacuated to Moscow, and shortly thereafter to Odessa, where he became a lecturer at the Odessa Polytechnic Institute (1918–1923). During this period, Clark continued his design and inventive activities. He was at the origin of two new faculties of the Odessa Polytechnic Institute: the Faculty of Engineering Design and the Faculty of Civil Engineering. In 1923, he returned to Latvia, where he became the head of the Shipbuilding Department at the Faculty of Mechanics of the University of Latvia. Under his direct design leadership in the late 1920s and early 1930s, various functional vessels were built in Latvia: the trawlers Imanta and Viesturs; virtually the first Latvian submarines Spīdola and Ronis; and the well-known Latvian icebreaker Krišjānis Valdemārs
