Proshenkov Vasily Zakharovich (Прошенков Василий Захарович, 1915), Life Guards Lithuanian Regiment, 5th Company, private: awarded the 4th Class Cross of St. George (No. 1220859) for distinction displayed on September 3, 1915, near the village of Tartak. The 2nd Reserve Infantry Battalion / Regiment of the Russian Imperial Army.During the First World War, the 2nd Reserve Infantry Battalion (later regiment) of the Russian Imperial Army operated in Finland, where it was stationed. This unit is significant in Latvian history because many Latvian soldiers (for instance, the future cavaliers of the Military Order of Lāčplēsis, Eduards Lapiņš and Pēteris Lazdiņš), who were initially conscripted into the Russian army, were transferred in early 1916 from this Finland-based reserve battalion to the newly formed Latvian Riflemen battalions.
