At the end of Cap d’Antibes, surrounded by a beautiful wooded land of 11 hectares, stands the villa Eilenroc, built in the end of the 19th century in terms of the famous architect Charles Garnier. It was built in neo-classical Palladian style. „Eilenroc” was called by the anagram of the Cornelia name, which belonged to a wife of the first owner of the villa, the Dutch millionaire, Mr Hugh Hope Loudon. Having separated from his wife, Mr Loudon left Antibes and put the villa on sale. The next owners were: James Wyllie, Scottish philanthropist, returned from India, where he had lived for thirty-five years, Sir Coleridge Kennard, and finally a wealthy American, Mr Louis Dudley Beaumont and his wife, Helen. In 1927th the renowed architect Welles Bosworth, who was carrying out the restoration of the chateau of Versailles was hired to restore the “Eilenroc” in the spirit of his time. Due to his efforts the sumptuous interior of the villa was restored. In the “Eilenroc” the Beaumont family established their fine collection of paintings and furniture of 18th century, but unfortunately many of them disappeared during the World War II. In the 1982th widow of Mr Beaumont donated villa to the municipality of city of Antibes, providing that it will be kept in a due condition.
